Release from the Cyclones:

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cincinnati Cyclones announced this afternoon that they have agreed to terms with center Barret Ehgoetz for the 2009-10 season. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate for the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

Ehgoetz, 28, finished last season with 22 goals and 42 assists for 64 points in the regular season and was tied for 17th in the league in scoring. He added five goals and six assists for eleven points as Cincinnati advanced to the American Conference Finals for the second straight year. Barret also notched a pair of assists in the All-Star Game in January.

“Barret Ehgoetz brings his best effort to the rink every day,” Cyclones Head Coach/Vice President of Hockey Operations Chuck Weber said. “He has worked hard to be a top-notch player in the ECHL and he is one of the best two-way forwards in this league.”

The five-foot-nine, 170 pound native of Kincardine, Ontario, enters his fifth season as a professional and fourth campaign with the Cyclones. Ehgoetz has played in 267 pro games and has 72 goals to go with 128 assists for 200 points. His rookie season was spent with Cyclones coach Chuck Weber in Utah, where he played in 64 games for the Grizzlies. A graduate of Niagara University, Barret played four seasons with the Purple Eagles (2002-2005), winning conference player of the year honors as a junior.

“I am happy to be back again in Cincinnati,” Ehgoetz said. “This is a great city and to be a part of teams capable of deep playoff runs is special. Hopefully we will be playing hockey into the late spring once again in 2010.”

Tickets for the 2009-10 Cincinnati Cyclones season are now on sale. The Cyclones Sales Department can be reached at 513-421-PUCK, extension 3. The Cyclones open the season at Elmira on Friday, October 16 and after three road games, host their home opener at U.S. Bank Arena against Wheeling on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm. There will be a special divisional championship banner raising ceremony prior to that game.
