LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Republican Brett Guthrie has kept Kentucky's 2nd District in Republican hands by edging David Boswell, who made a strong push for the seat held by the GOP since 1994.
Guthrie will replace Republican Ron Lewis, who won a special election 14 years ago and then served seven consecutive terms.
Guthrie got a late boost on election eve from First Lady Laura Bush, who campaigned with him on Monday in Shepherdsville.
Five other congressional incumbents -- three Republicans and two Democrats -- easily won re-election in their districts on Tuesday.
