The Artisans Enterprise Center is hosting an Artists Panel, mediated by curator David Knight, who will talk with the artists about their impetus to create and their influences during the process.

When reflecting on the two artists featured in this month’s exhibition at the AEC, in the Covington Arts District, ‘Re-Cycled’, curator David Knight is intrigued by Paige Wideman’s piece entitled ‘Memory Mine’, a two-dimensional wooden wall-hung piece that delicately holds hundreds of sawn–off twigs at its core.

He also mentions Elizabeth Laskey’s piece entitled ‘Marrow’ as having a corporeal aesthetic that catches his eye, despite the fact that the piece is comprised of torn metal and other industrial materials.

"Paige and Elizabeth both have similar views on found objects, both work in two and three-dimensional, floor and wall mediums. I’ve known them both for 5-10 years as teacher and colleague and have been continually impressed by their growing collections." David says.

Elizabeth Laskey and Paige Wideman, the artists whose works are on display at the AEC this month, work with found objects, all of which used to have some other purpose before they were employed in their art.

"These artists take found objects and see a new vision for what were once their intended purposes. They both create visually striking pieces that are combined to become a new found beauty as art." Knight reflects.

See both artists and curator engage in a thoughtful discussion about the works displayed and their mediums. For more details, contact Natalie Bowers at (859) 292-2322.
