Local police officers, firefighters and city officials plan to participate in the Kenton County Public Library and First Watch’s second annual Pancake Eating Contest.

All participants will receive a First Watch brunch buck certificate.

The winner will receive two tickets to Shadow Box Cabaret, provided by Newport on the Levee, a Kenton County Public Library backpack and a “Pancake Champion” T-shirt.

The contest is being held to promote the Library Foundation’s sixth annual Racing to Read 5K Walk & Run, presented by U.S. Bank. Race registration includes the race, a technical running T-shirt and a pancake breakfast provided by First Watch in the Library parking lot after the race.

Race proceeds benefit the Library’s Read Racer program, which is an early childhood literacy initiative. The Read Racer brings the Library and storytime to local preschools and daycares.

The community is invited to watch the pancake eating contest on Tuesday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at First Watch.
