CARLISLE, Ky. – Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park has accepted an invitation from Gov. Steve Beshear and First Lady Jane Beshear to contribute to a statewide food drive that is part of a massive national day of helping others.
The Make A Difference Day food collection is sponsored by the Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service (KCCVS), part of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS).
You can help the staff at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park feed the hungry by dropping off non-perishable food items at the Worthington Lodge Lobby inside the park. All food donations collected in this area will stay in this community and go to local food pantries to help families in the counties that surround the park.
Last year, this state effort collected and distributed 71 tons of food to local food pantries and emergency feeding centers. That’s enough food to feed 283,880 Kentuckians a serving each.
Created by USA Weekend magazine, Make A Difference Day is in its 19th year and is recognized as the nation’s largest day of doing good for others. The annual event is observed the fourth Saturday of October – this year’s date is Oct. 24, so drop your items off at the park before that Saturday.
