NEWPORT, Ky. – Campbell County residents will have better access to health care services like childhood immunizations, WIC vouchers and women's cancer screenings with a new health center in Campbell County.
The health center, currently located at 12 E. Fifth St. in Newport, Ky., will be relocated to the new Campbell County administration facility at 1098 Monmouth St., also in Newport.
The Campbell County Health Center will be closed from Nov. 19-24 for the move, and the phones will be down as well.
"We are looking forward to being part of a one-stop location for services in Campbell County," said Steven R. Katkowsky, M.D., District Director of Health. "This location will allow us to continue to serve the residents of Campbell County in an up-to-date and more convenient setting."
Along with the Campbell County Health Center, the new Campbell County administrative facility will hold the offices for such services as the Campbell County Clerk, Fiscal Court and Property Valuation Administrator.
The Health Department has health centers in each of the counties that it serves-Boone, Campbell, Grant and Kenton. Services offered at the health centers include school physicals, dental varnishing, diabetes screening and education, lead poisoning screening, immunizations, the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program, family planning and women's cancer screening, among others.
A total of 11 employees will work at the new center, consisting of nurses, clerical staff, dietitian, nurse practitioner and clinic manager. The staff provides approximately 1,600 services per month.
"Because we will be in such close proximity to other essential county services, I'm certain we will attract potential clients to our center due to the convenience factor," said Campbell County Health Center Manager Karen Hunt.
The new health center is scheduled to open to patients on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Once the move is complete, service will resume at the health center's phone number: (859)431-1704.
