Washington, D.C. — Congressman Geoff Davis announces that the 2009 Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery, has begun. Participating students can now submit their entries to any of the Congressman’s five district office locations (listed below).

Each year, the Congressional Arts Caucus coordinates an art competition for students in grades nine through 12. The competition was established to recognize and encourage the artistic talent of high school students across the nation, as well as in each Congressional District.

Since the Congressional Art Competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 students have participated.

The deadline for submitting entries is May 8. All entries from the Fourth District will then be on display at the Campbell County Public Library (901 East 6th Street, Newport, KY 41071) from May 11-15.

The winning entry selected to represent the Fourth Congressional District of Kentucky will be displayed in our nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C., for one year as part of an exhibition comprised of artwork from across the country. The first place winner will also receive three airline tickets to the winners’ reception in Washington, D.C. and an art scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design.
