General Cable, Hahn Automation Win Honors

General Cable and Hahn Automation Inc. won the International Trade Award of Excellence -- an honor awarded by the Northern Kentucky International Trade Association

“General Cable and Hahn Automation Inc. demonstrated strong international foundations,” Sylvia Dwertman of Citi and 2009 Chair of the Northern Kentucky International Trade Association said in a release. “Both companies, although different in employees and business size deserved our recognition.”

General Cable, headquartered in Highland Heights, is a leader in the development, design, manufacturing, marketing and distribution of copper, aluminum and fiber optic wire and cable products for the energy, industrial, specialty and communications markets. The company has 350 employees in Northern Kentucky; 13,000 employees worldwide in 46 manufacturing locations in 23 countries. General Cable is ranked 396 in the Fortune 500’s list of America’s Top corporations and is the 2009 NKITA International Trade Award of Excellence winner.

Hahn Automation, Inc. is a leading custom automation equipment manufacturing company that employs more than 20 employees. Hahn automation helps customers design parts suited for automation. Founded in 1992 in Reinboellen, Germany, Hahn Automation Inc., opened its U.S. operations in 2001 to serve the North American market. Hahn Automation is the 2009 NKITA International Trade Award of Excellence, Small Business Achievement winner.

The NKITA Award of Excellence applicants were required to be located in Boone, Kenton, or Campbell counties and/or a member of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce who import or export from their operations in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area. The company must have been in operation for at least three years.

A panel of judges reviewed completed award applications and narrowed the potential award candidates down to three finalists. The winners were selected based upon its revenues generated, global network developed, risk mitigation, organizational structure as well as other important guidelines.
