EDGEWOOD, Ky. - Here are some tips from the Northern Kentucky Health Department to help make Saturday's H1N1 swine flu vaccination clinic set for Saturday, Nov. 15 go smoothly.
The clinic will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14at Walton-Verona Middle/High School, 30 School Road, Walton.
“The Bank of Kentucky event on Wednesday went very smoothly, and we ask for the public’s continued cooperation at this Saturday’s event,” said Steven R. Katkowsky, M.D., District Director of Health.
Parking/traffic controlParking will not be available at the school, so those attending the clinic are asked to park at the First Baptist Church, 47 S. Main St., Walton, Ky., or at the east end of the Kroger Marketplace at Walton Towne Center, 635 Chestnut Drive, Walton, Ky. and be bused by TANK to the school. Target groupsUPDATED: Vaccine will be available to any Northern Kentucky resident who falls into the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s high risk groups for complications from swine flu. This includes:
· All people 6 months through 24 years of age (for children under 18, parents must be present to provide consent)
· People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
· All pregnant women
· Health care and emergency services personnel
· Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
Vaccine availability· The Health Department anticipates having a sufficient number of vaccine doses available to serve all on a first-come, first served bases. No prior registration is required.
· Vaccine will be available in both shot form and nasal spray, as supplies allow.
· Anyone who has an allergy to eggs will not be eligible to receive the vaccine.
· If you plan to receive the vaccine in shot form, you are asked to wear a short-sleeved shirt to allow faster access to the upper arm for vaccination.
· All vaccines will be administered at no charge.
Disabled accessSpecial access will be available for the disabled and pregnant woman with limited mobility. Anyone meeting these criteria should ask for accommodations upon arrival.
Additional clinics10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, at Summit View Middle School, 5002 Madison Ave., Independence, Ky.
A clinic will be held in Grant County in early December. Details will be announced soon.
