CHARLESTON, W.Va - The pilot of Cincinnati-bound Delta Airlines Flight 6121 had to abort takeoff around 7:20 a.m. Monday at the Yeager Airport in Charleston. It was the second aborted takeoff from Yeager this year.
The airplane blew two tires on its right side, causing it to skid several hundred feet before stopping about 500 feet from the end of the runway.
Yeager Airport spokesman Brian Belcher says no one was injured during the incident.
The flight was carrying 46 passengers and three crew members to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Additional flights were delayed until the plane was properly towed and the runway was clear.
In an incident earlier this year, a US Airways flight aborted takeoff and stopped in the emergency runway system at Yeager Airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating both incidents.
