COVINGTON, Ky. – If you ever wanted to know about Cincinnati's film industry, this Sunday is your big chance.
At least five of the biggest high-profile film organizations in the Greater Cincinnati region willfeature on Screen Test's agenda for Sunday.
In addition to showcasing the submissions that the Film Zero project received, which is a handful of independent film responses to a seed film posted on their Web site, the day-long event will comprise of show-and-tell and who's who sessions by the most recognized names in the Cincinnati Film Scene.
PPS Group, based in Covington, is one of the largest film production companies in the State of Kentucky, and will be featuring their “Monster Kids Home Movies” Project, which is a compilation of kids home monster movies dating back to the 1940s when kids were picking up dad's 16mm cameras and making their own scary movies based on the inspiration they gleaned from the silver screen. Joe Busam, director of animation, will host and welcome a Q&A session after the screening.
Cincinnati World Cinema's new Global Film Series which showcases international films from over ten different countries will be featured. Margaret and Tim Swallow, the directors of CWC, will be in attendance to discuss their impetus with the audience.
Other films, trailers and clips by Big Fat Brain, Barking Fish and the Cincinnati Oxford International Film Festival will also feature in the day's schedule.
Screen Test is Covington's First Film Festival and part of Full Spectrum, Covington's month-long celebration of the Arts. The creative leads on the project are Aymie Majerski of Barking Fish and Troy Hitch of Big Fat Brain production companies, both headquartered in Covington. The main purpose of the festival is to showcase the region's film community to the public and foster a platform for cross-pollination.
The event is free and open to the public. The complete schedule will be made available on the day's program, which will feature a timeline of talks and films from 12-5 p.m. at the Carnegie Visual &Performing Center for the Arts at 1028 Scott St., in Covington.
