Last Update: 6/26/2009 1:52 pm
Gov. Steve Beshear recently congratulated three Kentucky automobile assembly plants that were named among the best in the North American market, per the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Initial Quality Survey.

J.D. Power and Associated announced Monday that Ford Motor Company in Louisville, Toyota in Georgetown and General Motors in Bowling Green, all achieved the Bronze Award in the 2009 Assembly Plant Quality Survey. This three-way tie for the Bronze Award from J.D. Power is a first for Kentucky Assembly plants in the history of the survey.

"This survey confirms once again what we have know all along: that Kentucky is the ideal location for manufacturing and business to thrice," Beshear said.

The survey was fielded between February and May and was based on a 228 question consumer questionnaire designed to provide manufacturers with informations to facilitate identifying problems and drive product improvement.

"Such a phenomenal achievement for three of our automobile manufacturers is indicative of the commitment to excellence that Kentucky workers value so highly," Beshear said. "The commonwealth is an epicenter of high-quality automobile manufacturing today, and will lead the nation into tomorrow in new technologies, including lithium ion battery production."
