FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Steve Beshear says his administration has been enrolling more than 2,600 children per month into a health insurance program for low-income families.
The governor says Kentucky has so far registered 32,000 children since his administration relaxed some of its enrollment requirements and began actively pursuing families eligible for Kentucky Children's Health Insurance Program or Medicaid.
Last November, the Beshear administration offered a simpler mail-in application and made it available online, among other things. Officials also expanded locations where the enrollment materials were available.
KCHIP offers health insurance to children in families with an income below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. More information is available online at http://kidshealth.ky.gov.
