LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — A lawsuit filed in Lexington by Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass claims an office manager embezzled nearly $436,000.
The lawsuit filed Monday claims Bendrea Wilson of Lexington forged two board members' signatures to at least 140 checks, made out to five men.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reported the CEO of the nonprofit agency, Dale Suttles, said he believes the men who received the checks are friends of Wilson, who had been hired in May 2008.
Suttles said the amount missing represents about one-third of the organization's annual budget of $1.3 million.
The newspaper reported Wilson has not been criminally charged, but the FBI continues an investigation. Reporters were unable to contact Wilson for comment Monday night.
