LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Police have charged a former assistant volleyball coach at an eastern Kentucky high school with sodomy.
Police say 38-year-old Michael Charles had inappropriate sexual contact with a volleyball player he coached at Phelps High School in Pike County. Police say the alleged contact took place when he accompanied the team to a summer camp in Lexington.
Pike County Superintendent Roger Wagner said Charles has been dismissed from his volunteer coaching position.
WYMT-TV reports that Charles appeared in court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The case was sent to a grand jury.
