PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) — It's a tale of two cities in eastern Kentucky, where one Pike County community has approved alcoholic beverage sales in restaurants while another town says no to liquor sales.
Unofficial results from voting Tuesday show Coal Run voters decided 218 to 137 to allow restaurants to serve alcohol
Meanwhile in Elkhorn City, the Appalachian News-Express of Pikeville reports residents voted 357 to 163 against a proposal to legalize alcoholic beverage sales. That measure would have allowed restaurants to sell beer and wine and would have approved package sales of beer, liquor and wine and by-the-drink establishments selling only beer.
