FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Some Korean War veterans will be getting a special honor this weekend in Kentucky.

State officials say about 25 veterans will receive long overdue awards during special ceremonies at an American Legion Post in Carrollton.

Kentucky Office of Homeland Security Executive Director Thomas L. Preston will speak at the ceremony Saturday afternoon.

Brig. Gen. John W. Heltzel, who is director of the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management and deputy commander of the Kentucky National Guard, will give the awards to veterans representing different branches of the military.
