FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Gov. Steve Beshear has three candidates to consider for an open district court judgeship that covers four eastern Kentucky counties.

A judicial nominating panel on Thursday sent Beshear the names of three finalists for the 21st Judicial District opening, which covers Bath, Menifee, Montgomery and Rowan counties.

Three people are under consideration: Stephen Graves Geurin of Morehead, John Anton Nefzger of Frenchburg and William Warner Roberts or Morehead.

It's up to Beshear to select from those people a replacement for Judge William E. Lane, who in August was appointed to a circuit court judgeship.

Whomever Beshear chooses will have to run for the seat in 2010 to keep it.
