GRAYSON, Ky. (AP) — Decisions on who the Republican and Democratic candidates for an open House seat will be are expected to come later this week.
Kentucky's 96th Legislative District has been unoccupied since state Sen. Robin Webb left the House for the Senate. The Daily Independent reports local officials for both parties are scheduled to select their candidates for the seat this week.
Gov. Steve Beshear has called a special election to fill the seat for Dec. 8.
The seat covers Carter and Lewis counties in northeastern Kentucky.
According to the newspaper, Republicans are expected to meet Tuesday night at the Carter County Justice Center. Democrats, meanwhile, are expected to meet Monday night to decide.
