Plea Deal Offered To Mom Charged With Killing Kids

Last Update: 10/30 10:43 am

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A Louisville mother charged with killing her children has been offered a plea deal.

The Jefferson Commonwealth's Attorney's Office offered the deal Thursday to Gail Coontz, who is charged with murdering her two children.

Neither the prosecution nor the defense would discuss details of the proposed deal. Defense attorney Mike Lemke told Coontz he would discuss the offer with her.

Coontz is accused of shooting her 14-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter in their home in March 2008 before allegedly holding a therapist hostage at the University of Louisville counseling center.

Her trial is scheduled for January.
