LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Volunteers who want to translate for foreign visitors who come to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games next year will first have to take a test.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that a language proficiency test is being required. The first written exams will be given Saturday, Nov. 14, at Georgetown College.
Sandy Suffoletta, director of language services for the World Games 2010 Foundation, said translators are a "critical component" of the overall experience for those who attend.
More volunteers are needed for the games, which will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington from Sept. 25 to Oct. 10. Interested persons can apply at www.alltechfeigames.com.
