Ruth Adams McFarland, 84, of Covington died Wednesday, Oct. 28 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Edgewood.

She retired as an unemployment officer for the State of Ohio and was previously the first female police officer in Painesville, Ohio. She attended Immanuel United Methodist Church in Lakeside Park and was a member of Happy Loafers at the church and the Rosie Reds.

Her husband, Earl F. McFarland, died in 1988.

Survivors include her daughter, Roxanne Marsh of Edgewood; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday, Oct. 31. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of St. Elizabeth Healthcare, 483 South Loop Road, Edgewood, KY 41017.
