Dummy Hoy may have played baseball over 100 years ago, but, the Reds great's impact on the game deserves recognition at the U.S. Capitol.

At least that's what some Ohio lawmakers are trying to determine.

Hoy is among those on a list of prominent Ohioans under consideration for a statue in Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol.

Hoy was deaf. Things like relaying signals and other non-verbal communications in baseball, as well as other fields, became commonplace because of him.

On Friday, a delegation of lawmakers visited the Reds Hall of Fame to find out more about Hoy.

The committee will make its recommendation in May.

Among those also under consideration are former Presdent Wiliam Howard Taft and the Wright Brothers.
