The San Diego Padres signed utility man Jerry Hairston Jr. to a one-year, $2.125 million contract on Monday.
Hairston joins his brother Scott in San Diego, which acquired the latter in a trade with Oakland on Saturday.
Jerry Hairston split last season with the Reds and Yankees, batting a combined .251 with 10 homers and 39 RBI.
The 33-year-old veteran has also had stints with the Orioles, Cubs and Rangers, compiling 49 home runs, 291 RBI and a .259 lifetime average while being able to play a multitude of positions.
