A woeful season for the Cincinnati Reds has translated to the team ranking #24 out of 30 Major League teams in home attendance, selling on average more than 23,000 tickets per game.
Attendance is usually measured by tickets sold, not people through the gate.
After Monday's doubleheader at Great American Ball Park, 1,537,275 tickets have been sold for the Reds' 66 home games. Those numbers are provided by Major League Baseball to espn.com.
The New York Yankees currently lead all of Major League Baseball in attendance with 2,976,564, averaging 45,793 through 65 home games. The Florida Marlins rank last with 1,196,180 in 67 games, averaging 17,853 per game.
Attendance for Monday afternoon's Reds game versus Pittsburgh was formally announced as 13,051, but those at the game say actual attendance was closer to few thousand. The night game had an announced attendance at slightly more than 9,000.
