Students at several Northern Kentucky schools are taking part in service projects in preparation of an event this weekend.

Saturday marks Global Youth Services Day where children across Greater Cincinnati are learning about the importance of giving back.

On Thursday, 8th-graders St. Cecilia in Independence made book marks.

The book marks will be sold and the money raised will buy books for their pen pals at the Miami Valley Literacy Council.

Students at Ryland Heights Elementary are having a penny war and school supply drive as their service projects.

Hundreds of students will gather at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center this weekend.

For more information about the events or how to get involved, contact Children, Inc. at (859) 431-2075 or visit online at http://www.childreninc.org
