On Sunday, April 26, Cathy Halloran, executive director of Chicks and Chucks, will be speaking at the first annual Service Symposium at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.
This event, part of Children, Inc.’s Global Youth Service Day will recognize and celebrate the contributions of youth to our community as well as inform and connect attendees to numerous service opportunities around Greater Cincinnati.
Comedienne Cathy will share her story as a breast cancer survivor and founder of the non-profit “Chicks and Chucks.” She will display her no-limits approach to life, the effectiveness of laughter, and her genuine passion for giving back and helping others.
“Cathy has a wonderful sense of humor and tremendous positive attitude. Her message is one of hope and inspiration,” said Mary Kay Connolly.
“There is life after cancer, and getting this message out early to our youth is important. Not only has she survived cancer, but also she has dedicated her life to helping others with the disease. Cathy’s passion for life and service is exactly what we want to spread throughout our community.”
Cathy was selected as Cincinnati Enquirer’s 2008 Woman of the Year. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2001, treated through January of 2002, and was declared cancer free in 2007. In 2006 Cathy’s “Chicks and Chucks” became a 501 (3) organization.
The Service Symposium will be Sunday, April 26, from 1-5 p.m. at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center and is open to the public and free of charge.
