LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Churchill Downs has issued the following reminders in advance of Saturday’s 135th running of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (Grade I).
- Patrons are advised to arrive at the track early on both days to accommodate search procedures at all entrance gates. All patrons are subject to scans by magnetic wands before entry to Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby.
- Admission gates (1, 3, 10 and 17) will be open at 8 a.m. (all times EDT). First post is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
- Infield admission to Churchill Downs is $40 on Kentucky Derby Day.
- Note that umbrellas are not allowed inside Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day. Other items that may not be carried in to Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day include alcoholic beverages of any kind, glass bottles or containers, grills, thermoses, backpacks, luggage (including briefcases), duffel bags, wagons, and weapons (including knives).
- Items permitted for carry-in to Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day include coolers (Gates 1 and 3 for infield use only); food items in clear plastic bags (maximum size 18" by 18"; no trash bags and limit two per person); "box" lunches if packaged in clear plastic bags or plastic containers (maximum size 18" by 18"; no trash bags and limit two per person); sunscreen (no glass containers); cell phones, cameras and camcorders (patrons may be required to turn electronic items on prior to entry); small personal music systems, radios and televisions (no "boom boxes"); binoculars; purses and baby bags (all subject to search); strollers (only if carrying a child – no other items allowed); seat cushions (no backs); chairs (Gate 3 only); blankets (Gates 1 and 3 for infield use only); and tarpaulins (Gates 1 and 3 for infield use only).
- While coolers and chairs are allowed in the Churchill Downs infield, these items will not be permitted inside the Infield Club hospitality area.
