The Northern Kentucky Health Department has confirmed another death associated with the H1N1 virus, also known as the swine flu.
Lori Ann Hornsby was just 36 years old.
Family members say she passed away two days ago after spending more than two weeks at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.
According to the Kentucky Department of Public Health, this was the 30th swine flu death in the state and the fifth in the region.
Hornsby leaves behind a husband of 17 years and a 16-year-old son. Both say she was the foundation of their household and they're going to miss spending time with her.
"We played board games sometimes. And we would play on the computer together and okay the Facebook games...and we just spent time together whenever we could," her son Tyler said.
Her husband, Michael, says, "She's definitely a beacon of hope and happiness. Very smart. Made my life happy."
Family and friends are holding a benefit to help raise money for the Hornsby family. The benefit will be held at the
Bulldog Roadhouse on
Declaration Drive in Independence on December 4 at 7 p.m.
Hornsby's memorial will be held at the Stith Funeral Home on KY 42 in Florence this Sunday.
