Seasonal Flu Vaccine Shortage Hits Tri-State

Last Update: 11/02 2:51 pm
Procrastinators may find themselves out of luck when it comes to getting the seasonal flu vaccine within the next couple of weeks or possibly even longer.

Health officials say there is a shortage of the seasonal flu shot with production being kicked into high gear for the H1N1 vaccine.

Customers who call local pharmacies including Walgreens and Kroger are informed by a recorded message that the stores no longer have seasonal flu vaccine in stock.

The Hamilton County Public Health Department says the heightened awareness of the swine flu has prompted more people than usual to get the seasonal flu shot.

The Health Department’s public relations office says it has a small amount of seasonal flu vaccine but expects to run out by the end of the week.

Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Health Department is offering free walk-in swine flu vaccination clinics on Wednesday.

The first starts at 8 a.m. and goes until noon at the Northside Health Center at 3917 Spring Grove Avenue.

The second is this afternoon from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Braxton Cann Health Center at 5818 Madison Road.
