Senior middle hitter Jaimie Wulfeck had nine kills, senior setter Brooke Jones dished for 25 assists and Notre Dame (32-8) advanced to the state semifinals with a 25-18, 25-18 win over Lexington Dunbar (35-10) on Saturday.

Sophomore outside hitter Shelby Reid and senior middle hitter Liz Barton added seven kills each for the Pandas, who will play defending state champion Louisville Mercy (30-6) at 2 p.m. for a chance to play in the state final tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Mercy beat Notre Dame in the state final last year.

Reid recorded three kills during a 7-1 start to open game one. Dunbar pulled to within one, 12-11, but the Pandas ran off four straight points, including a kill by Wulfeck and an ace by sophomore outside hitter Lindsay Hartmann, and Dunbar never seriously challenged after that.

In the second game, Notre Dame ran off seven consecutive points after taking a 12-10 lead to ice the game. Wulfeck had two kills during that span.

Senior middle hitter Brianna Hill and junior outside hitter Lauren Travis led Dunbar with five kills each.
