Q&A: The Lenhardt Home
Q: When did you purchase your home?
A: My husband and I purchased it from my mother in 2006, and it has been in my family since 1978.
Q: What period is your home?
A: It is a Swiss Chalet
Q: When was it built?
A: Built in 1908
Q: What struck you about that the home, that you knew you had to have it?
A: I grew up in the house and have always loved the home and street since I was young. I loved that it had two staircases. I have always known that I wanted to live in Fort Thomas and raise my family here.
Q: What are you most proud of that you have done w/your home?
Q: What is the abbreviated history of your home?
A: The home was built by Mrs. Charles H Voige as a wedding gift for her granddaughter Alice W Rigstaff in 1908. I feel historic homes should be preserved because they have such a feeling of permanence/history with features that you cannot replicate.
Q: What do you hope that tourists will appreciate about your home?
A: We are most proud of the addition we added to the home which merges the original with the modern conveniences of today. We started the addition in June of 2006 and it took about a year. My husband was the contractor for the home.
Q: Have you done any major renovations to your home?
A: We expanded the kitchen, added family room, powder room, 1st floor laundry, first-floor master suite, three-car garage, lower level recreation area with full kitchen/bar, full bath, walkout to patio. My husband put his workshop under the garage. It has made the home very livable for our family.
