DRY RIDGE, Ky. -- Two adults and an infant were rescued after their truck became surrounded by rising waters in Grant County early Friday morning.

A 911 call came into Grant County Dispatch around 5:30 a.m. asking for help at Elliston-Mount Zion Road in Dry Ridge.  Initially, water was up to the Toyota Tacoma's floorboards.

Elizabeth Rogers, 35, was dropping off her boyfriend, William Upton, 29, for work when the truck became submerged.

Upton's 15-month-old daughter, Haley, was also inside the vehicle.

"It was unreal how fast the water rose up," said William Upton. "I just went forward a little bit further and my engine died. I called 911 and when I was on the phone with them the waters got into the doors."

The water eventually got as high as the engine when the truck stalled. A rescue boat team had to travel a half mile to get to them. They were rescued from the top of the truck.

"It was scary and dark. I was worried about the baby and I was wanting to go across the bank. but I saw how fast the current was and it was picking up faster and faster," said Upton.

As for Haley, she slept through most of the ordeal.

"I could hear her snoring. I had a jacket and took it off and gave it to her and we kept her covered up and kept her head warm and she didn't wake up until the rescue boat got there," said Upton.
