Keeping soon-to-be teen drivers safe was the goal in Burlington Monday evening. AAA hosted the workshop "Dare to Prepare" at the Boone County Library.
The program was designed to help parents and teens about to get learners' permits understand the responsibility and expectations of driving.
AAA wants parents to realize it's never too early for kids to begin preparing to get behind the wheel.
"They need to start as they're a passenger in a car," said AAA Florence District Office Supervisor Charlene Rouse. "They need to start talking about it, thinking about it, looking at what distractions are out there, learning the rules, learning the laws of the road."
AAA says studies prove students who go through programs like this are less likely to be involved in accidents.
The workshop covered traffic safety issues, how parents can help teens become safe driver, and factors of teen car crashes.
