Almost 800 absentee ballot applications have been rejected due to the applicant not checking a box.
According to Hamilton County Board of Elections Director Sally Krisel, "We are recontacting the voters now with a clean application for them and ask them to send it. But if any voters are sitting out there with this remember to check that box."
A few of the application ballots created and distributed by organizations other than Hamilton County Board of Elections have a box to check off next to a phrase reading, "I am a qualified elector and would like to receive an Absentee Ballot for the November 4, 2008 General Election."
The Hamilton County Board of Elections' request card reads exactly the same, however, their form has no box to mark.
Krisel added, "We're going to mail them a copy of the form so they know why it wasn't processed and then were going to send them a good form they can use to send back to us along with a postage paid reply envelope."
This year's general election is on November 4. It always falls on the first Tuesday of November.
