Snow blanketed much of the Tri-State Tuesday and Wednesday, leaving quite a mess to clean up. Most major roadways are clear and safely passable, but drivers are cautioned to to expect the unexpected on side streets and lesser used roads. Crews have been out in full force clearing the roadways, but drivers are still cautioned that even if snow is not falling, conditions can be unpredictable. Drivers should be more careful on service roads, in smaller neighborhoods, on bridges, on overpasses and on any type of incline or change in elevation of a driving surface. Drivers are also advised to leave much more time to get wherever they need to go and to not travel too close to other vehicles as roads may return to poor driving conditions. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) advises drivers not to pass other vehicles so that cars can travel safely on area roadways. Cincinnati police has enacted its emergency auto accident reporting procedure. This means that officers will only respond to accidents with injuries reported. Drivers should exchange information and report the crash to police district headquarters after the snow problems have subsided.
