The Cincinnati Bengals announced Thursday that they have come to terms with former University of Cincinnati punter Kevin Huber.
Huber, a Cincinnati native, was the first punter selected in the 2009 NFL Draft when the Bengals took him in the fifth round.
He was the first punter drafted by the Bengals since 1987.
Huber, a McNicholas High School graduate, led the nation in punting his last two years with the Bearcats. He was the first UC player to win a national punting title.
During his tenure at UC, Huber averaged 45.5 gross yards on 124 career punts, with 49 of those kicks going for 50-plus yards. Forty seven of his punts pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line. Only 37 of his punts were returned, none for touchdowns.
He was a key component to UC's historical 2008 season that saw the team win the Big East Championship and earn a spot in the Orange Bowl.
Huber is only the second player in Bengals history who has grown up and attended high school and college in Cincinnati before embarking on a professional football career. Running back Clem Turner, a fourth round selection by the Bengals in 1969, attended Woodward High School before attending UC.
Huber is the sixth of the Bengals 11 draft picks to sign.
