Hard work has paid off for one local school, and students there are taking time out to celebrate.
St. Veronica is one of several Tri-State schools that have recently received a Blue Ribbon award.
The US Department of Education gives the award to public and private schools that are either academically superior or have made dramatic gains in student achievement.
St. Veronica will hold a celebration assembly at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Catholic school is located in the 4000 block of Mt. Carmel Tobasco Road in Mt. Carmel (see map below).
It is one of 50 private institutions selected as National Blue Ribbon schools.
Other local winners for 2009 include
Saint Michael in Sharonville, and South Lebanon Elementary in Maineville.
As for northern Kentucky, congratulations go to
Ruth Moyer Elementary in Fort Thomas and
Saint Agnes School in Fort Wright.
The Blue Ribbon School Accreditation only went to 314 schools in the country this year.
