CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Central Credit Union was robbed Friday morning with a false threat.
Investigators say a man entered the location on 1717 Western Avenue and put a cardboard box down at the teller's window. The man then stated "There is a bomb in the box" and demanded the teller give him money.
After receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the man exited the building and ran in a northeast direction toward Winchell Avenue.
A Cincinnati Police Explosive Ordinance Detection Canine Unit responded to the Credit Union to inspect the box.
The box was found not to have any explosive device or material in it.
Investigators describe the suspect as a black male, late 20s to early 30s in age, 6'0 tall and 200 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweat suit jacket that zipped in the front, blue jeans, white gym shoes and black gloves. The subject left the Credit Union carrying a large black book bag with a shoulder strap.
Anyone with information about the offense is asked to call the Major Offenders Unit at 352-3542 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 352-3040. Callers can remain anonymous and may receive compensation for their information.
