Courthouse Security Tightened After Threat, Arson

Last Update: 6/05 11:13 am
BROOKSVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Officials have tightened security at the Bracken County Courthouse in northeastern Kentucky amid an investigation into an arson and a threatening letter.

Judge-Executive Gary Riggs told The Ledger Independent of Maysville that access to the courtroom on the second floor of the courthouse will be limited. Riggs said the state Administrative Office of the Courts loaned officials a metal detector and anyone who enters the courtroom will have to go through it.

The extra security measures come as state police investigate an arson fire at the home of a county magistrate and an anonymous letter that threatened county officials over a proposal to adopt zoning regulations.

Police are still investigating whether the two incidents are related.
