HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- An H1N1 vaccination clinic will be held at the Bank of Kentucky Center on the Northern Kentucky University campus Wednesday.
Starting at 10 a.m., 8,000 doses of H1N1 swine flu vaccine will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
Northern Kentucky health officials are making a big push with their first mass vaccination clinic, in hopes of protecting much of the NKU student body. Most of them are among the high risk groups for complications from this new flu strain, since they are under 24 years old and have not been exposed to similar flu strains.
Other high risk groups include pregnant women, health and emergency workers.
The clinic will run from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
If you're coming from off campus, there is no available on-campus parking since classes are being held. Some parking suggestions are at the First Baptist Church, Furniture Fair or Meijer parking lots on Alexandria Pike. A shuttle bus will be provided to campus.
Those shuttles are scheduled to start running around 9:15 a.m.
Northern Kentucky health officials hope to reduce flu complication dangers for thousands of high risk residents, with the start of 3 massive vaccination clinics.
Other Northern Kentucky H1N1 vaccination clinics are planned for this coming Saturday in Walton and the following Saturday in Independence.
It's expected each of those clinics will have at least 8,000 vaccine doses to give out also to high risk patients.
