Cyclones Go Quietly Into Off Season

Considering how the Cyclones gutted out first and second round series wins, they and their fans have to be stunned to think the defending Kelly Cup Champions season is over. Concluded Friday night, 3-2 by the South Carolina Stingrays.

What is even more perturbing, is the fact Cincinnati didn't win a game in the American Conference best of 7 title series. Being swept 4 games to none, is not anything resembling Cyclones hockey.

What happened? Well scoring was a problem all series. And when they did take a 2-0 first period lead Friday, they couldn't hold it.

That in contrast to two earlier games where the Stingrays got out to big leads and while Cincinnati showed heart to rally back, couldn't overcome the big deficits.

Their fans though were with them to the end. And will be back again when they gear up for the 2009 season. Here's hoping it doesn't come to such a stunningly quick conclusion.
