WARSAW, Ky. -- Work continued at the Markland Dam on Tuesday in Warsaw after a 250-ton gate broke off and fell into the Ohio River earlier this year in Sept.
Engineers lifted the final Markland Lock Gate, drained the lock chamber and placed it on a barge where it will then be taken to Louisville for repairs.
Officials say it will take about nine days for the work.
River traffic continues to move through, however at a much slower pace..
The Markland Dam should be back to normal by April of 2010 upon completion of the repairs.
