A car filled with five students from Simon Kenton High School crashed into a utility pole in Independence Monday afternoon.
Independence Police say the driver of the westbound car lost control, crossed the center yellow line and went off Cody Road near Shelton Street around 4:15 p.m.
Police say two of the teens trapped inside the car were female students and the other three were male students. Rescue crews had to free them from the vehicle.
Four students were taken by ambulance to University Hospital. The fifth was rushed to St. Elizabeth South in Edgewood.
Police say the driver was treated and released from the hospital.
Police say their injuries are non-life threatening.
Officers are still investigating what caused the crash.
