Forbes Magazine has listed Cincinnati as one of the top cities in the country to get the most for your money.
Cincinnati tied with
Indianapolis for the fifth spot on the magazine's list of America's Best Bargain Cities.
"They looked at factors like the cost of housing, the cost of living. They looked at congestion times, which lends itself to quality of life, and in all those situations, Cincinnati ranked really well," said Doug Moorman with Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.
Last year Tonya Matthews chose to move from Washington D.C. to Cincinnati to accept a job as VP of Museums at the Museum Center.
"I'm the kind of person that likes the quiet of semi-country living, but I have an appetite for big city kinds of things, and I think Cincinnati is that kind of place," said Matthews.
Forbes Magazine agreed, giving Cincinnati high marks for being one of the best bargain cities in America.
"A square foot in Manhattan costs $120, a square foot in Downtown Cincinnati, Class A office space, is $20. Those are the competitive advantages that make us a bargain city to live in," said Moorman.
As for Tonya, she's enjoying working and living near downtown, going to see a Broadway show, visiting Fountain Square, and going to all the restaurants.
She's established a quality of life that makes her want to call Cincinnati home.
"I think it has a lot of what I was looking for just in a community, and I find it really making a difference in my pocketbook/bottom line every month," said Matthews.
Forbes named
Austin, Texas, as the best bargain city in America, followed by
Phoenix,
Washington, D.C., and
Fort Worth, Texas.
