DAYTON, Ky. -- A former Dayton, Ky., high school teacher found not guilty of having a sexual relationship with a student told her story on Good Morning America on Thursday.
On Oct. 16, a jury found Nicole Howell not guilty on all charges she had sex with a 16-year-old male student. Prosecutors argued Howell, 26, had sexual relations with the teen several times last year at her Covington apartment.
In the interview she said, "My life is ruined. Completely ... My name has been dragged through the mud. I won't be able to teach again. Not because I did anything -- I did not -- but because of the situation."
"I don't know what to say. I have no words now to just tell the citizens that were just on my jury how amazing it is that they did the right thing. They listened to what I had to say. I've been saying it from day one that I'm innocent and I am not guilty. I am innocent and it's proven today," Howell said after she was found not guilty.
She said that she won't go back to teaching, but will use her skills in the banking industry.
