Forum On Duke Energy Rate Hike Tonight

Last Update: 10/14/2008 7:45 pm

Some consumer advocacy groups want to make sure the public knows all about Duke Energy's plan to raise rates.

The office of the Ohio Consumers Counsel is encouraging Duke customers to attend a forum Tuesday night to learn about a plan that could hit pocketbooks hard.

Duke Energy says it needs to increase its rates to improve service and maintain its equipment. But in order to do so, the Public Utility Commission of Ohio must approve the move. So consumer groups say the time is now to educate the public on what the rate increase would mean to their home and/or business bill. Then customers can let the Commission know how they feel about Duke's plan.

Organizers say Tuesday's forum is the chance to ask and get answers to the questions people may have about Duke's proposal. The forum will be held at the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency at 1740 Langdon Farm Road.

The forum begins at 6 p.m.
