Election Day
Good morning -
Like Dots stuck in your teeth, Halloween just won't go away.
The Halloween edition of the GMTS newsletter got a lot of responses yesterday. If for some reason you couldn't see the pictures, check out the web version here.
We also got some emails about my point that Mounds, candy corn and circus peanuts are the equivalent of an amoeba on the candy food chain.
From reader Tom:
"I’m totally with you on the circus peanuts being treated as a candy that one would have to be forced to eat. But Mounds as part of the leftovers after the “good stuff” is gone??? This is not acceptable. Chocolate and coconut together is great!! The only thing to make it better would be an almond on top… wait, they make that, too!! And PayDay isn’t too bad, although the lack of chocolate definitely puts it lower on the candy hierarchy."
It should be noted that Tom's wife loves circus peanuts. I hope their difference of opinion doesn't land them in counseling.
Reader Catherine says:
"I happen to love Mounds, candy corn, and circus peanuts. Please feel free to send them my way."
Duly noted. I would tell you to be on the lookout for such a package, but considering each of those candies has a shelf life of a decade or more, you've got some time.
I also got some great pictures of newsletter reader costumes, although no one dressed up like a GMTS newsletter reader. Go figure.
Here's Catherine's nephews in what has to be the #1 boy costume this year: Bumblebee from Transformers. But I like the whole family theme ...

It's interesting how an insect can be cute and fuzzy, sweet and frilly, and robotic and menacing - in different incarnations.
And reader Jen won her costume contest as a very convincing Mary Poppins.

My favorites on Today's GMTS:
-Wet Dog, Anyone?: For Try-It-Out Tuesday today, we tested the Waterless Pet Towel, which promises essentially to dry-clean a dog or cat. See what we thought in our unscientific test.
-It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Or at least retailers are forcing us to start thinking about it. What ever happened to Thanksigivng? Stores have gone straight from Halloween to Christmas. But there's one good thing that comes out of the mayhem: White Christmas is being re-released in a special anniversary DVD. The movie features hometown favorite Rosemary Clooney and Irving Berlin's classic songs. The new release also has an interview with Rosemary's bother Nick. Perhaps you've heard of him.
Today's Distracting Link:
If you love a good limerick or two
Then this is the distracting link for you
It's addictive and fun
No work will get done
Just don't blame me if any are lewd.
