CINCINNATI -- Hamilton County home owners may find out on Monday if their property taxes will be going up next year as they may lose a significant tax credit.

It may be a little confusing but because the half-cent sales tax increase in Hamilton County that is paying for the construction of Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park isn't collecting the kind of money it was designed to. Homeowners could lose a stadium tax credit that could save the owner of a $100,000 home as much as $124.

Hamilton County Commissioners say since the stadium sales tax fund isn't getting enough money from sales taxes, it may have to eliminate that property tax credit.

If you've lived in Hamilton County long enough, you may remember that when the half cent sales tax increase was approved by voters in the mid-1990s.

The commissioners could vote as early as Monday morning to eliminate the long standing property tax credit. All the commissioners have said they don't want to drop the credit, but they apparently have few alternatives -- even after agreements with Cincinnati Public Schools to delay the yearly $5 million payment from the stadium fund.

We'll have the commissioners meeting covered for you with updates here at WCPO.com.
