EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- Police say a man who led Evansville police on a high-speed chase that ended in a fatal head-on crash has repeated arrests for driving under the influence.
Authorities say 34-year-old Daniel Joe English II had a blood-alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit when he was taken to a hospital after the crash Christmas night.
The crash killed 20-year-old Onterrio T. "Terry" Sharp, the driver of the other car, and sent two passengers in his car to the hospital. An infant in the car suffered only minor scratches.
Police say English has been arrested six times on DUI charges.
Police say when English is released from the hospital, he will be arrested on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness, DUI with a prior arrest for DUI and resisting law enforcement causing death.
